Emma O’Brien RN, BSN, IBCLC
About me:
Hello and welcome! My name is Emma and I am a Registered Nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and mom of two serving Ventura County and located in the Ojai Valley, CA. I am here to walk by your side and support you as you plan for and navigate your infant feeding journey and to help you find what works best for you and your baby.
I completed my lactation education through a rigorous training through UC San Diego through the Lactation Pathway 2 educational certificate program. I spent hundreds of hours of clinical training under the guidance of longtime IBCLC’s/lactation consultants at Kaiser Santa Rosa in their pediatric clinic providing hands on care to families with newborns and infants.
I have personal experience navigating infant food allergies while breastfeeding as well as navigating caring for a medically complex child. I approach caring for my clients in a respectful, nonjudgmental, holistic, and comprehensive manner. I welcome all families and parenting adults to my practice!
Insurance Information:
I am currently contracting insurance through The Lactation Network. TLN accepts select insurance plans, contingent on approval. Please note that TLN doesn’t cover travel fees. Please find out more about your insurance coverage by clicking the link below:
If you have CIGNA Insurance:
Click the button below to get your lactation visits covered by Insurance through Wildflower Health! Please note that Wildflower Health does not cover travel fees.
I am now contracting Insurance through MilkWise! They work with Aetna PPO, Meritain, First Health, Nippon Life, United Healthcare, Blue Shield PPO, United Health Care UMR, and Cigna (out of network)!
Please click the link below to book with me and check your insurance coverage through MilkWise. It usually takes about 24 hours to confirm coverage. This connects us in the MilkWise system for a consult, and we will both receive texts when coverage is confirmed to go ahead and get a consult on the calendar.
Please Note: I am an “out of network provider.” If your insurance does not contract with either TLN or Wildflower Health or MilkWise, I collect payment at the time of service (cash, credit card, check, flexible savings accounts and health savings accounts).
If you are interested in knowing your potential level of reimbursement for my services, please call your insurance provider and inquire about their coverage for “out of network lactation consultant services,” as well as any applicable deductibles. After each visit I will email or mail an itemized superbill to my patients for them to submit to insurance for potential insurance reimbursement.
